In a different thread, zennjenn opined:
"Well there's that old song 'Stars Fell on Alabama,' which isn't really much about Alabama but I guess very few songs are."

Okay, fellow Alabama posters, let's list Alabama songs! They should have Alabama in the title, or in the words. A second category could be songs about Alabama stuff - it could be cities, natives, attractions...anything in or from Alabama.

Alabama in title:
"Stars Fell on Alabama," about a meteor shower over Alabama in the 1800s. Alabama Jubilee
My Home's in Alabama
Yea, Alabama
Sweet Home Alabama
Alabama Song
Alabama Stomp
Planet Alabama Rag
Alabama (the state song: "Alabama, listen mother....")

About Alabama places, people or things:
Huntsville City Lights
Midnight in Montgomery
Oh Susannah
Birmingham (Randy Newman)

Copy, paste and add yours! (Or maybe Keeper will make this a sticky note!)

There was a song back in the 50-60s about Mobile.

They saw a swallow building its nest
Guess they figured he knew best
so they built a town around it
and they called it Mobile

Where's that?
Alabama

That is all I remember of the song, unless you want to hear me sing it!!!! LOL

Christmas in Dixie about Ft Payne

Jimmy Buffet has several songs about Mobile, although they aren't in the title of the song.

Want me to sing you some of those???

Memphis is in Tennessee...I don't remember anything in the song about Alabama, but I could be wrong.

Uh, no, that's QUITE all right, especially if you sing like me!! Google a few words and add "lyrics" and usually you can come up with a set or 10,000 of lyrics.

"Mobile" by R. Wells and D. Holt, sung by Julius LaRosa (hadn't heard that name in a couple of decades)
Some more lyrics:
No use you're wondring where you should go
It's on the Gulf of Mexico
Where the southern bells are ringing
And the climate's ideal
It's a honeysuckle heaven
By the name of Mobile
Where's that?
Alabama
