I'm coming into town for the bridge crossing on Sunday. I'll be driving down from Charlotte, NC. I understand the roads around the bridge will be closed. Can anyone let me know if there is a safe place to park my car for the afternoon that would be reasonably close to the bridge (either side, I don't care). Generally speaking, is Selma a safe place to park and walk around alone for this event? Thank you!

There won't be anywhere nearby to park. The city is going to be overrun with visitors and it's not built to handle such an influx. Your guess is as good as anyone's as to how it will turn out.

This ^^^^^

JLoeber, FSUMike's comment might sound somewhat snarky, but it's really not. What he told you is very accurate. Anytime a city such as Selma tries to host an event such as the one this weekend, it is typically very disorganized as hell. Maybe - and I mean maybe - you can park at the Selma Mall and take a shuttle into downtown. However, that is sure to be a clustered bunch of mess if that will even be an option.

I'm hearing around 100k people will be descending on Selma this weekend, so this has trouble written all over it.

Good luck and Godspeed.
