I am considering moving to Hamilton, AL. for the same reason. I wouldn't as of yet say I'm deffinatly assigned there as I'm not certain of that just yet. But, I have been putting it off for a while as well and I'm almost 25, and it seems it's about time I look into making the move.
Anyhow, I too need information on relocating to the Hamilton, AL. area. I have looked into it and found apartments and have searched for jobs there. But, I would like info from people who live there as to what kind of jobs there are and such...anything that could be helpful in relocating to the area. Thanks.

I can't give you a lot of info, as I only live there part-time, but there don't appear to be a lot of decent jobs in Marion County. There are 2-3 mobile home manufacturers and some other small assorted industries in Hamilton, Winfield and Guin. Hackleburg has a Wrangler distribution center. There is a roller bearing plant in Hamilton (NTN Bower is the name, I believe) where the union employees went on strike last year and they have hired replacements at $11 an hour or maybe more. There is also a customer service company called Sitel which starts at $8.25 an hour. If you want I can get you the address or phone number for the local newspaper and you can find more stuff in the want ads. Marion County is beautiful but for someone as young as you, you may not find a lot to do unless you like outdoor activities. The county is dry, and you have to go to Tupelo or the Shoals to drink or to find entertainment. Anyway, good luck.

Thank you. I would appreciate the address and number of the local newspaper. I enjoy outdoor activities and am used to there not being alot to do as there isn't much to do where I live and I grew up in a small town so I know how that is.

Hi Denise! I see that your original post was 2006. Did you ever move to Hamilton?

We are also intending on retiring in this general area in two years, but my main concern is the Tornado's. Can some one tell me about the rains, the tornado's, and the general weather. How many days get over 100 in the summer, what is the humidity like etc? Thanks.

Charles,
Thanks for the info. I drive through this area on my way to Jackson and have always liked it. When I did a search to find out more about it I was surprised to find very little information on the general area. Do you know of sites that can give me more info such as events in the general area, population, places to eat, is there a larger population in one area as opposed to the other, for example in Muscle Shoals, Florence, Tuscumbia etc.
We would like to live as close to Jackson, Tennessee as we can but will need such things as high speed internet for work. My husband is a Paramedic and would still like to work some so would need a populous of people to secure a job.
