Default How do I find rentals in N Alabama?

I need to move from Decatur and am considering many smaller towns. If anyone knows of any list of rental homes (not apts. because I have pets) please post for me. I'm interested in inexpensive rentals in Limestone, Marshall, Morgan, or Madison Counties, particularly in rural areas. My husband works in Huntsville so almost anywhere would be good for us.

I've contacted realtors, but the best luck I've had is just riding around. It's just a little much to ride all over the countryside in hopes of finding something affordable that I like.

Local newspapers would be a good place to start. Here in Arab, there is a property mgt company that list houses for rent along with individuals.
Pets are going to your biggest problem IMHO, but I have seen a few houses for rent that accepted pets.

Hi Cat, the two main questions I have is how much can you afford per month, and what kind of pets do you have?

Some people leasing out homes will accept pets, but with dogs, if that is what you have, then they will want to know what kind. If you have a Pit, Rott, or any breeds like that, it will be extrememly hard to get a rental home. Because in most cases, they will not be able to get insurance on the property with a dog like that. Personally, I have a Rott, and know how great they can be, but as far as insurance companies go, they think they are all vicious.

Hi Mike. I have cats - one indoor and 2 outdoor. And I really want something inexpensive, preferable $500 or below.

I would love to get into the Morgan City or Arab areas. Hubby is more inclined to go the Athens route.

Actually I just need a place to go. I've sold everything and moved up here from cental Alabama a while back to take care of my parents. Mom passed away last week and Dad has decided to move to assisted living. So I'm going to be homeless in a month or 2 and I need to save my money for washer/dryer and fridge and stuff like that.

Keeper, I've checked out the online Arab Tribune and saw a couple. Is there anywhere else you know of that I could look. What about the Chamber of Commerce? Does it keep a list of rentals?

Check the Sand Mountain reporter, if you can get to their site on-line, you can look at classifieds and I have seen houses for rent there.

I am going to be in and around Arab tomorrow. Are there any areas that might likely have rental signs up? I'm going to Ryan's Crossroads and can cut over there and go up through Morgan City.

Gee, I am not sure about the Chamber of Commerce. They have a website. I think some of the apts do allow pets and are very reasonable.
If you come over for lunch check out 3 guys grill right off of main street, there is a sign on the telephone post. LOL.

The paper comes out tomorrow, so you might want to check there again.

Well, I found the location I want to move to. Now all I have to do is find a house. I fell in love with Union Grove. I guess it's because I spent a lot of time there as a kid. It's totally different now. My grandparents' land has been subdivided, although some of the trees are still there. I love the land. I guess I'll just start taling to people there to see if there might be something available.
