Hello Everyone...
I Have Been Researching My Colby Family History And It Has Led Me To Eufaula, Alabama! ![]() I Am Interested In The Colby Oppenheimer Barr Home, Which Is Located At 236 W Broad Street. Also Interested In Any Information On The Colby Family Members Known To Be From Eufauala, Specifically John Colby Who At One Time Owned The Home Mentioned Above, And William, Susan, Elizabeth And Charlotte Colby, Possibly In Eufaula Prior To 1850. I Also Understand There Is A Colby Street Or Avenue? Can Anyone Help Me With The History Of This Street? Can Anyone Help With Information As To Where John Colby May Have Immigrated From? Ireland? England? And In Closing, Any One Have An Idea As To Where These Colby's Could Possibly Be Buried In Eufaula? I Believe John Colby To Be The Brother Of My Great Great Grandfather William Colby (married To Susan) Thank You For Taking The Time To Read My Email And Thank You To Anyone Who Can Help Or Direct Me To Someone Who Can Supply This Information. Kind Regards :-) Katie Colby Middletown New Jersey |

I used to live about 3 blocks from there. It was a beautiful house (haven't actullay been by it in a couple years).
Go to Eufaula Tribune - News - Top Stories (Eufaula tribune). They run an awful lot of history articles. Plus, if you contact them (really nice folks), they will tell you everything you want to know. In the left column, click on Our Newspaper and then Contact Us. The original ethnic background of Eufaula is Creek Indian, Irish, and Scottish. |
