ALtoWA is on a distinguished road
I graduated from JSU and lived in Jacksonville for a couple of years. My favorite thing about the town is the Ladiga Trail. It runs all the way from Weaver into Georgia (where it becomes the Silver Comet Trail.) It's great for walking and biking. Houses aren't very expensive and it is more reasonable than Oxford and some parts of Anniston. However, it is a college town, so for peace and quiet, you will want to consider a neighborhood that isn't located near apartment complexes. I highly recommend this because I lived in a house across from apts. and my car and house were broken into and there was constant traffic all hours of the night. Things that really annoyed me about living there are the lack of variety in resturaunts and groceries. There's the every fast food joint you can think of, The Rocket (BBQ), Jefferson's, Coop De'ville, and Strut's. All are mediocre and serve mostly unhealthy fried food. You'd have to drive 30 minutes to find better restaurants and shopping (unless you find Wal-Mart sufficient)...either in Gadsden or Oxford.
