I saw tags being mentioned in another thread and thought it would be a good subject for a new one. How many of you prefer the old tags with the county identification numbers on them instead the new ones? I opted to keep my old tag this year, but I was told I will have to get a new one next year. I like being able to look at someones license plate and being able to tell what area of the state they are from. My county is #30, or as the youngsters around here say it, the "dirty thirty"(whatever that means).

I wish they would also name the county on the plate. If not, just keep the numbers.

I may be wrong, but didn't Florida remove the county name from the new "My Florida" tags?

I like seeing the county, but right now I've got a University of Alabama tag.

Florida removed the county names for a reason, ppl from out of the county were victims of crime. Mainly in the Miami area where tourist rented a car it might have another county on the tag. There were a couple of tourist killed and several robbed in the Miami area due to just that.

I like the idea of the county name too. I know a few of the counties by numbers but not all.

We have so many tags to choose from here now. I had many of the county numbers memorized and liked knowing where drivers were from. Now, you can get a tag in Alabama for just about anything.

You're right. I think I may get the "protect the forest" tag next year.

Awww, MAN. I leave for a lousy year and they screw with the car tags?

After being forced to memorize all 67 counties and their respective county seats at Huffman High School (B'ham), I always enjoyed being able to recognize the county by its number. (There needed to be SOME payoff for all that memorization!)
