I am hoping to move to AL in about 2 years, after I graduate college. I was thinkin of going to Heflin, Anniston, Lincoln, or Oxford. Does anyone know which of these areas has the better schools? Newer houses? I have an 8 year old + 4 year old who will be in a middle school and elem. school by the time we move down there. I am also in a bi-racial relationship. How is that accepted down there? Are we going to find ourselves running into problems because of it? Also, would anyone know what the starting salery for a teacher is down there?

Anniston/Oxford is a nice enough area. I can't speak to attitudes in those towns about bi-racial couples. In parts of Birmingham, especially the Southside and Hoover, there's a pretty good level of progress in attitudes.

Default Did you get the Help

I was looking through the forum and saw your post. Did you get your questions answered? I actually live in Anniston. The attitudes towards bi-racial couples are good.
