Winn-Dixie #429 is a supermarket located at 800 Noble Street, Anniston, Alabama 36201-5626, at the northwest corner of Noble Street and Alabama Highway 202 in the city of Anniston in Calhoun County, Alabama.

Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Winn-Dixie, announced Winn-Dixie #429 will close in June.

I think Piggly Wiggly, 1615 Quintard Avenue, Anniston, Alabama 36201-3848, becomes the lone supermarket in Anniston's downtown.

Well isn't it true that most people don't live near downtown? Winn Dixie is a terrible store anyway.

Anniston's downtown population could support a supermarket. Do customers in the trade area want to shop at Winn-Dixie #429 and Piggly Wiggly, or do they want to drive farther to other grocery retailers?

Winn-Dixie has been on the decline for years.

In my opinion, I wouldn't necessarily say that Winn-Dixie has declined. I regularly shop the location closest to my home. I will say that as certain neighborhoods age, there maybe social economic demographics decline. Many Winn-Dixie locations happen to be located in these certain areas.

When I worked near downtown Anniston I occasionally stopped by the Noble St Winn-Dixie for lunch. I noticed barely operational vehicles in the parking lot, and I finally stopped shopping there after being approached by a homeless man begging for money, then a job, and finally a place to take a shower. The nearby Piggly Wiggly on Quintard has converted it's format to a discount Pic 'n Sav banner.

From what I can tell, the closing of the Noble St Winn-Dixie is a sign of the decline of the neighborhood and not the Winn-Dixie chain as a whole.

Default Winn-Dixie #429, 800 Noble Street, Anniston, Alabama 36201-5626

I cannot speak for the trade area Winn-Dixie #429 is in. I can say Winn-Dixie has closed many stores over the years.
