Albertville, AL
Does anyone out there have any information on Albertville AL. My husband and I are going to be moving in the near future to either TN or AL. We have had it with Florida. I have been on one web site and found some very reasonably priced homes in Albertville. Any input would be much appreciated.

Someone else asked the same question recently. The reason that homes seem priced low in Albertville is that the town is being overrun with Hispanics working at local poultry plants. Nothing necessarily wrong with that, and if you can live with that, fine. Lots of people apparently can't, and are moving out.

Thank you for your reply to my question. I really dont know where to even look for a place to live. I have a friend at work who has a retirement home in Scottsboro AL she really likes it there, and has invited my husband and I to come and stay and check out the area. I went on a web site for real estate there, but did not see anything I liked.

What is your price range? There are many nice places in the area -- Scottsboro, Guntersville, New Market, Lacey Springs etc, but the previous poster is correct about Albertville.

If you like to be near the water, Scottsboro may be for you. It is on Lake Guntersville, but real estate is a lot more reasonably priced than in Guntersville itself. Homes in Scottsboro may appreciate greatly in value over the next few years, as 5000 or so government workers are relocated to north Alabama from the DC metro area.
Other places you might want to check out in NE Alabama include Gadsden and Ft Payne.

You should visit your friend and then check out the surrounding little towns if you don't see anything you like in Scottsboro. If you are thinking of moving you should do it now before the influx of people begins with BRAC at Redstone Arsenal which begins I believe in 08. I moved up here from Tpa and I love it. You can find what you are looking for in one of the surrounding areas. You might want to check out Marshall county area and look for your price range. I don't live in Albertville but I have a friend who does live there and he has a brand new 3/2 home/garage on hugh lot for 100k. Albertville and Boaz do have a lot of hispanics working at the poultry plants, but if you are from FL you probably have lived around hispanics before, the difference here is that many are illegal. Hope this helps.

What ever you do, do not move to Albertville. I did and am having to live with a serious mistake. People are clanish, ignorant, uneducated and small minded. Only 57% of the population has a high school education. There is not one book store in the area. Library has more paper back books than hard backs. No newspapers on the shelf. The typical citizen thinks all persons of hispanic origin are illegal. Lynch mob mentallity. Problems with excessive amounts of rental property are perputuated by elected officials that own many of the run down properties.
Move to Iraq or Iran or some place better.

Thanks all for your input. My price range for a home is 125,000 to 150,000.

Check out Valleymls.com for houses. You can find something in your price range. Here is Scottsboro in your price range ValleyMLS.com
Let us know what else you need. I love it here and wouldn't move back to Fl for any reason.
