Can someone recommend to me which county has the cheapest rural acreage with decent soil for agriculture? The further south and not in wind vicinity any nuclear power, chemical or heavy industry the better. Prefer at least some hills or mountains in distance. (in other words not too flat and barren)

Land in my area usually goes for around $5-6k per acre, maybe a little cheaper if you buy lots of acreage at once. I recommend looking at Monroe and Conecuh counties. Generally you won't find very many hilly areas in the southern part of the state, it's pretty flat here. The main crops in my area are soybeans, cotton, peanuts, and corn.

you better buy fast.
With the value of crops sky rocketing, so will land that can be farmed. It's happening all over the US . |

Land prices around here are rising because people want ten acres to build a house on, and I really can't blame them.

Lots of chemical plants along the Tennessee River, in the Decatur area.
Good source of local family incomes! |

Lauderdale and Colbert counties have reasonably priced land. Are you looking for a home or a barn on it as well? That will affect the $amount you are looking at.
