I spent a few years in Atmore and loved it. I have been in NC since 1962 and was wondering how things have changed. I'd like to move back there if things have not changed all that much. I used to get a bath in a little creek just south of Atmore going toward Pensacola. If anyone out there is old enough to know how things have changed, write me a note.

I live in Atmore, and things are probably worse than they were in the 60's. Most of the areas that were middle class then are now lower income areas with rundown houses. Most people who can afford it are now moving to the outskirts of town, to areas like Nokomis, Canoe, and Walnut Hill. Public schools in Atmore are terrible, and private schools are now just about the only option (except FL schools). If you want to be back in this area, Brewton is a better choice.
