Information on Arab, AL
Hey y'all! I think i have found the place i would like to move to in Alabama.
It's Arab. But i am not sure what it is like there. Are there young people there? I am 19. The other place i was looking at someone had told me, there wasn't that many younger people there. Are there good jobs there? I am going to school to be a Vet. Tech right now. Are the houses nice? Affordable? I am open to anything.
Thanks!

Arab is a small town about 25 minutes from H'ville. Rent is very reasonable and crime is very low. There are few jobs except for fast food, restaurants and retail. There is no mall, movie theater or fancy restaurant, unless you go into H'ville.
Renting a 1 bd apt is about $350.00 a month. There are young ppl but there really isn't a lot to do here. Guntersville is 10 miles away and most go there to go to bars and other restaurants.
There are 2 vet offices here, both of which have vet techs.

Well thank you so much! So would it be better to find a job in H'ville? Or Guntersville?

If you are looking for some kinda part time job while you are in school I'd say Huntsville because it is the regional shopping, entertainment, and financial center for North Alabama. Especially with retail there have been a lot of new hotels, restaurants and stores opening in Huntsville recently so they are needed people to fill a lot of those jobs. BridgeStreet TownCentre the new lifestyle center, even the new state headquarters and Verizon wireless call center which will eventually employ up to 1500 people are some places right now with a lot of openings.

How do 'yall say Arab, as in the town. Is it "A-rab," like the people in the middle east, or do people there throw some hill-speak spin on it and say it like "Arb". I'm originally from Georgia where we can make "milk" a three-sylable word. So I was just wondering.

It is A raab.. The southern 'a' is drawn out. Ironically the name was suppose to be Arad.. but the post office messed up the name and it became Arab. Which I guess is better than 'bird' or 'ink' which were the other names submitted

Makes sense. If I'm ever lucky enough to move down into the Northern Alabama area, I'll make sure I say it like that "A raaab."

Do that. It is a nice place. You can go see Thompson falls, but you have to know where it is since it isn't marked on any map.
