I am currently living in Nebraska but seriously considering moving back to Alabama. I have lived there previously twice but not seriously. I lived there with my ex husband once for about six monthes and stayed with my sister and again last summer for three monthes. Things happened and I ended up coming back to stay with my mother for a while and now Im ready to return. I love it there!!! My only concerns are the school system and I don't have a job there. Resources are very slim in the Hamilton area, but I dont want to be far from my sis, she is in hamilton. The average pay at the walmart is like 6.50/hr and I dont have any experience. I havent worked in ten years and I'm only 25 so you all get the idea. My sister works at waverly the trailer plant, but she gets hit on and gropped all the time I'd say borderline sexual harassment. Not where I want to be!!! Also I have 4 children in age from 3-8. I would need daycare for the little one (expensive, available????????) and the others would be in school which limits my work hours. They were in the hamilton school system at the start of this year and they hated it. Hours of homework at night for three kids and it just seemed like they were pushing way to much on these small children. I have considered Guin, Winfield or Brilliant maybe even Haleyville, but know nothing about them. Is there a better place that will still keep me close to my sister, keep the same price for a rental and let my kids learn at a pace that is better for them? Is there a place to make a decent wage while being an entry level worker? Does anyone out there even know where I might be able to get a rental? Can I do this all on my own and keep my kids as happy at school without feeling overwhelmed as they are now? The school is my main concern.
I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!
Thank You

That entire area is quite depressed economically. The mobile home plants boomed for a while, manufacturing temporary housing for Katrina victims, but that's over now. Poultry is a big industry in that area, too, but immigrants - legal and otherwise - keep wages low. There are very few child care facilities. Think carefully before you move. Might be better to first invest in some vocational training to learn a trade that would be in demand. Much good luck to you!

I love northwest alabama but maybe a move is just not advisable for me right now

What about Cullman? Not as close but not too far away. You should have a little better selection as far as jobs go there, albeit the pay for most jobs is still going to be low, but rent is low too.

You really need to do what is best you and your children though. You won't be a lot of help to your sister if you are struggling to get by and your children are miserable.
