Default Questions about Hurtsboro Al

I am a married white male from Maine. My wife and I come from a small town with very low crime. After spending quite a bit of time in the south we learned that racisim is still rampant in the south (believe it or not we were surprised) any way I have found a property for sale on Church St in Hurtsboro that fits our budget and we travel with our job most of the time. My questions are is this an area where my wife can feel safe walking alone? I looked at the crime stats for the area and Im left feeling that the crime rate is a bit high but it looks rural and where I come from people that dont look for trouble dont get any. So information on the area would br helpful as it is a small town its difficult to gather any information on the area. Thank you.

Why is this on the Huntsville forum and not the Alabama forum?

Hopefully others will chime in with some good responses (I can't; I don't know the area), but why would you consider a place that has on paper higher than acceptable crime rates anyway? Aren't there other places that fit within your budget that are safer?

What is your budget anyway? Perhaps others on this forum who are familiar with the region and the state could offer some alternatives?
What other requirements do you have? You travel, so within a certain distance to an airport?

Check here.. for some info about the area Hurtsboro, Alabama (AL) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders.

There are a few posts listed on that page regarding Hurtsboro. I am moving your post to the main forum to see if anyone can help you.

You say you travel for work, is that drive or fly? There are plenty of small towns that would meet your requirement, I am just not sure Hurtsboro would be a good one. It is away from major interstates and airports.

I've been in and around Hurtsboro quite a bit, and I know EXACTLY which house you are looking at, without even asking you. That house is a beauty isn't it? Especially for that low price.

However, Hurtsboro has had it rough, especially in the past 50 years, one thing after another it seems. Several industries that once held the community up have collapsed, and the city services of the town have also fallen through. The house you are looking at has an abandoned railroad behind it, just another 'sign of the times'. Further down the street, you have a second abandoned railroad. The collapse of the cotton industry, the wooden water-ski industry (that's right, Hurtsboro couldn't follow the trend of fiberglass, and lost out), and the lumber industry falling through have left the town rather bitter.

Crime is rather high, but just don't go looking for trouble, and don't go sticking out in a crowd, and you'll do just fine. I'm not racist or anything, but I believe Hurtsboro is a majority black community.

As far as everything else goes, Columbus/Phenix City is not all that far away, you could do your shopping and such there.

Anyways, if you need anything else let me know, and I'll do my best to help out.

not trying to get in yaws business but i think hurtsboro alabama is mostly a black community to its a really small town with mostly black in it or living there but if you dont like hurtsboro alabama try looking into seale alabama its a quiet peaceful little area with mostly whites in the area to its only 14 miles from the city limits of phenix city alabama and columbus georgia just right across the river in georgia and another thing try looking in to fort mitchell alabama or cotton alabama these places are also peaceful and quiet fort mitchell alabama is also doing alot of housing developnment in the area to so check that out first and then check out cotton alabama by the way fort mitchell alabama is only 20 to 30 minutes away from the city limits of phenix city alabama

and another thing if you need to go shopping phenix city alabama is just a couple of miles down the road they have a walmart supercenter there in phenix city and a kmart or if you perfer to go shopping in columbus georgia you have to cross a bridge over the river to go to columbus georgia because its in georgia but just dont get lost in columbus georgia because its a pretty nice size city with major highways and traffic also columbus georgia has 4 walmarts in there city so theres alot to choose from and if you and your family love to go to malls also columbus georgia also has a mall in there city thats were most of us go here in phenix city is to there mall in columbus georgia because we have no mall in phenix city alabama columbus georgia also has an outdoor mall with many outlet stores like old navy and sears and other stuff and if you have any children that love fun places hollywood connection would be the best place they have amusenment rides inside there and other stuff
