Girl, I have never really known street names there. LOL! I just knew where folks stayed. You have to go like towards Hickory Hill church. We stayed right in front of the train tracks. I didn't play in the band, but I sang in the choir. I really do want to move there. one of my cousins just moved back there. I have been trying to find out about the schools now. how is their suspension rate and how is their graduation rate. I'm also trying to find out what the graduation requirements are, because ours is 21 credits and I have a 10th grader that I don't want to mess up with his credits. I've been praying about it, but it is a great desire of mine to live there. Yeah, I would love to keep in touch with you. I wish it was a way for me to just give you my email address.

Okay, I just have to ask this on this thread!! My dad came from Georgiana and I would really like to know if anybody knew him or his family. His name was William Moore, his brothers were Carl and Winifred. His great uncle is/was a cop there, last name Blackmon I think??? Does any of these people sound familiar to any of you??

I don't know his first name, but I am sure he was blackmon and he is/was a cop. I guess that would be him. He didn't know much about my dad at all though, just knew they were related. He seemed friendly enough on the phone when I talked to him.

well, I sent an email to Mr. Abrams and also to the high school principal. I remember Mr. Abrams when we were at Georgiana High. I also saw Mr. Jeddo Bell in the paper when I was home once this year. Do you live near Hickory Hill now? My uncle lives in Washington Estates now and my dad lives in a trailer off 31.

Smile I Love Georgiana, Alabama

I have been going back and forth to Georgiana for a total of 44 years now, and I still love that little rustic town. I plan on moving there when I retire or winn the the lottery which ever comes first LOL.
I will admit that everything that was said about Georgiana is true, but what you mostly mention is the town, try visiting the parts out in the country it's BEAUTIFUL! I will be returning in a few weeks, and I cannot wait! Everything here is so simple and laid back.

Default Speed Trap

The little hamlet of Georgiana, AL is a true speed trap. The section of Hwy 106 from I-65 to Hwy 55 is patrolled by local cops giving tickets if you go 3 miles over the speed limit. A very tourist UNfriendly town.
