As for nothing to do where Im from in NC there is very little to do as well so that is no change. I live more in the country atmosphere. Thanks again.
I think you will like it there....the economy has struggled but a major new manufacturer is building a large plant there now which is bringing many new, high paying jobs. This will help the area economically....

Don't believe everything you read. I have a friend who is a teacher in one of the highest rated systems in NC, which is in a very affluent area. She says it is a disaster area filled with violence and apathetic kids and parents. Most teachers there only last 1-3 years.

That's not any different than in most of small-town America. Last time I was in Florence (about 6 months ago) it looked like it was doing pretty well to me.

Default Florence, AL is a Great Place to Live!

Are we really talking about the same place? I've lived all over the world from Birmingham, AL to Yuma, AZ to Okinawa and we chose to move to this area in 1972 to raise our children because of the school systems, the location (which is close to several metro areas), the cost of living, the wonderful outdoor activities, the friendly people and the low crime rate! Florence and the surrounding communities have more than lived up to our high expectations.

I can't say much about the school since im in my early twenties and am not from the area. My husband is from the area and i lived there for about a year. I loved loved the area. Its pretty safe town alot safer then were we are living now. People are very friendly and the parks are so so nice. We lived in an apartment complex off cox creek pkwy. Never had any problems with people there the management of the complex is a different story but they were nice apartments. In my opinion any where you live is pretty safe lol. Compared to where i live in new mexico (we are rated by the fbi as one of the highest murder rates). I even worked in retail in florence and loved all the people i worked with and all the people who came in. Its a different world there. Good luck.
