Well it might benefit the extreme northeast corner of AL (Jackson County? as I saw in an article.) At least multinational companies are considering the South for moving their production. Maybe if we see more insourcing in the future more will come down South and to Alabama. It would be awesome if a bunch of companies headquartered in places like New York discovered how great it was down here and decided to move. Then again there might become more Atlantas but I'm all for growth.
I think that more of the plants should go to South Alabama or Mississippi to help out the unemployment rate in those areas. Hyundai going to Montgomery or Nissan to Canton, MS meant a lot more for those places than VW does going to Chattanooga or than it would going to Huntsville. Those two cities have some of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation! A lot of businesses are discovering the South and its only time before they will reach those places which have been preserved only by their poverty - places over the South with staggering unemployment rates in the 10-20 percent range (the Pee Dee, Black Belt of Alabama, Mississippi Delta). Either that or farming needs to come back in earnest (like when the Central Asian Republics run out of water and can no longer mass produce cotton.)
Well too bad TN got the plant but it was a victory for the South!

Yep. Marion County in the Pee Dee, east of Florence and along I-95 is known as the Corridor of Shame with some of the worst schools in the nation. South Carolina has the second highest unemployment rate of any southern state next to Mississippi. Many rural South Carolina counties have high unemployment just like the Black Belt Counties of Alabama. I'm saying that the problem is not unique to Alabama and I wish industry would go where its needed.

Really if Limestone got the plant, Tennessee still wins.Because its so close to Tennessee.
The black belt needs it overall.

Apparently the new plant will help out the Ft. Payne area as there are folks who drive to Chattanooga to work now.
According to the news report I saw they are hoping to get other auto suppliers in the Huntsville area that will support the new plant.
I think it would be a long drive for ppl from Limestone or Huntsville to work everyday.

When they were in PA after there 10 years of tax breaks where up they went to Mexico. I hope TN has something to make them stay longer.
