Default Water Tables in Faulkville AL

I am thinking of digging a well and installing a windmill at my childrens home in Faulkville. Their land does not "perk" (I have no clue what that means) but I thought it might mean the water table is high. Can anyone help me regarding this issue?
Thanks,
VAclady

"Perc" is short for "percolate," and it's a term meaning water has to spread out a long ways before "percolating" into the soil. In other words, it's rocky as heck out there. There's no sewer service, so people have to install septic tanks, hence the importance of soil that will perc.
You could probably call a well-drilling company that's familiar with the area and they could give you an idea about how far they'd have to drill and how much it would cost.
BTW, it's "Falkville."
Good luck!

Could also mean the soil has a lot of clay in it.
