Can someone give me a ballpark figure on what utillities cost in the Birmingham and Huntsville areas? My main concern is what it would cost to heat and cool a 3500-4300 sq. ft home. Thanks.

my parent's home just outside of birmingham (alabama power, not TVA which serves huntsville i believe) was about 3500 square feet and it cost maybe 120 a month when the AC/heat weren't on constantly (like november or march) and closer to 150 during the colder winter months. during the summer, it typically approached $200.

for what it's worth, my dad was a real stickler when it came to energy so his bills might be lower than what the average person would expect to see in a similar sized home.
