Montgomery is an impoverished, crime ridden place. This is not a City that you want to go to for any reason. Nightlife? You really don't want to go out at night.

Montgomery Alabama has hard working good people like anywhere else and some of you people affend me because, I think you look at the fact that it has a majority black population.Its being judged from the other side of the track.Its right out disgusting. Montgomery is no more crime ridden or impoverished than any other place.Its because of people like you in politics, why Montgomery's westside has had so much struggle.People in Montgomery work hard and want the best for their family like any other city.Have ever thought to yourself that Montgomery was the frontline for the civil rights movement and because of that reason it has been cut off for so long.You should not leave comments of places you know nothing about.

Compared to what? Birmingham? Atlanta? Both have higher violent crime rates.

Birmingham had nearly three times the murder rate and Atlanta's is nearly twice. I suspect the total violent crime rate will be roughly mirror the murder rate.

Atlanta or Birmingham would be your best bet for positive nightlife.
Montgomery is still pretty dead and dangerous.
I've been here for 20 years ... played in the secular bands for 13 of them.

In 88 ? The whole city would basically close down at 8pm or 9pm.
Now .... around 12am and 1am but still dead and dangerous let me remind you.

Hopefully a few new places that are considering on opening in 2009 will bring some better quality of nightlife.

I agree with you mimpdaddy,Montgomery,Alabama is not as bad as anywhere else. I have been living in Montgomery,Alabama for 21 years and yes we have our problem people but so does every other city. I will admit that the night life does need to pick up for people my age, but as far as being dangerous and impoverish, that is non sense. People try to make it seem like if you go out at night something bad will always happen and that is not true. Instead of being judging of an entire city based on a few bad neighborhoods is wrong.
