I have heard about the foot wash event for sometimes from my friends. My only concersn is that my friends are black and I am white and even they informed me that the foot wash is not the safest place for white people. I do not discriminate for any reason, but if my friends are telling me that they dont know if it is safe I dont know if I should go. I have always been interested in African American History and I would love to go for the experience. If anyone has been please give me your opinion b/c I heard it is not as much of a cerimony as it used to be, it is more of a party, but I would love to go. I dont want offend anyone by me being white and wanting to attend.

Hey everyone interested in the footwash. The footwash is a festival in Faunsdale, AL that's held the 4th sunday of September. It started back like a 100 or so years ago as a religious type thing and now it's just way beyond that now. I'm from Alabama and I've been going to this festival since I was about 13. The festival has everything you would ever want like food, clothing, drinks(everything imaginable),other things if you know what I mean, music, purses, shades, shoes I mean everything). People come from everywhere. It's so crowded that you really don't have any room to walk. It actually starts way before that 4th Sunday like around Monday and last up until that Sunday or sometime Monday.

Race is not a thing at the footwash. Everyone is there to just have a good time. I have seen whites at this footwash and I never seen or heard of any race issues.

The closest city near U'town would be Selma, Demopolis, Tuscaloosa. The cities are that big so the best thing for you to do is try to get a room so where in Selma or Demopolis and come on to the festival. It's also best to try to get a room now since the footwash is this weekend and rooms do book fast.

Foot Wash
Foot wash is happening this weekend Sept 27th -28th. I have never been and won't be attending this year, as I will be out of town but I heard it was a wild event. Alot of my friends are attending this year though. If you all go, be careful and have a good time.

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?????????? Let's get this str8!!!!!!!
So many people seem to have a problem with the activities at the FOOTWASH (private property) in the woods away from everything, but not with The Crawfish Festival which is held on PUBLIC property & Bike Rally (private property). People have gone as far as to compare the Footwash to a KKK meeting, please. The Footwash is an event once a year to let go of all your hang-ups and frustration; and to just let things hang loose. This event isn’t held to plan attacks on anyone for any reason. Yes. There have been incidents, which most are isolated because many of the attendees know each other, okay. If the owners of the land don't have an issue with the activities why should anyone else. IT'S THEIR PROPERTY to be used however. For several years law enforcement harassed people going in and coming out, with no just cause. Oh, that's right!! Reason: The direction which they were going and from which they came. On the other hand, The Crawfish Festival is held in the smack middle of Faunsdale, AL on the main public highway (Hwy. 25) along with the Bike Rally and what do people think that drugs, sex, alcohol, and violence aren't involved there. Well, people think again it is; just not demoralized, as the FOOTWASH so badly is. People under the INFLUENCE (OF WHATEVER) walking in the middle of the road as if they are walking in their own driveways or yards; or something. Okay, now let's focus on the Bike Rally. This is held on private property on Old Hwy. 80 and we all know what Biker Gangs are known for (drugs, sex, alcohol, & violence); however, nothing is said or done about these two events, which are held in the same small damn town as the FOOTWASH, so explain to me if there isn't some profilin' goin' down. Trust me when I say this, I am from Faunsdale, AL (Marengo County). People before I forget here’s another thing the FOOTWASH IS NOT held in Uniontown, Al; it is held in (Greer Hill) FAUNSDALE, AL and is held the weekend of the 4th Sunday EVERY September!!!!!!! However, for the last three years activities have begun as early as that Monday before, so keep your eyes on your calendars and your ears open. Just so everyone knows the FOOTWASH is opened to all: black, white, blue, green, or orange, don’t believe the hype. I have seen plenty white attendees and participants. So don’t that fact bent!!!! Check the history and get the all facts; and get this info CORRECT!!!!

Illegal is illegal, no matter what color you are and no matter if you're on private or public property. If you followed that reasoning, then murder would be fine as long as it's on private property and the owners are OK with it. If somebody had stolen a bunch of money from the vendors, you can bet they'd be hollering for justice!
It's hard to check the history and "get the facts" because there's nothing out there, except for a few truly nasty videos and some postings in the DemopolisLive forum.
So......how was it?
