What to see on our house hunting trip to Dothan
Hi, my family will be in Dothan October 12-17 house hunting. What should we do/see while we're in the area? Thanks in advance!

LOL I wish! The hubby is actually retiring from the Navy with 20 years in, he accepted a job with Southern company and a Nuclear Instructor. I'm looking forward to getting out of the NY winters here!

Depends on what you like to do, will try and give you a few things to do if I know your interests.

Okay, well my first question for you is do you have any kids/school-age children living with you?
If so, I wouldn't look for a house inside the city limits. As far as elementary schools go, I believe the city schools are okay, but the high schools seem to leave something to be desired. For a good high school, I would look for a house zoned for Rehobeth or Wicksburg. Those two towns are right outside of the city limits, and both of those schools are great! (I am actually speaking from personal experience: I graduated from Rehobeth in May, and my siblings still go there, AND my mother is a fifth grade teacher at Wicksburg).
I don't know what your ideal price range is, but I think there are a couple of houses for sale in my neighborhood (it's behind Memphis Baptist Church, about 5 minutes from the circle towards Cottonwood). A house in that area would allow you to go to Rehobeth...actually, as long as you don't live in city limits and nobody has to ride the school bus, you can send them to any county school you want.
Good luck on your house hunt!

Well, you're only 90 miles from the beach at Panama City. I'd buy a sailboat, keep it docked there, and sail it every other weekend. But that's just me.
