Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville.

Shrine of the Most Blesed Sacrament

Amazing to see the church and monestary out in the middle of nowhere.

My wife and I love camping at Little River Canyon. To me it's the most beautiful place to visit in the state.

Dismals Canyon - Photo Galleries (Canyon Floor) (http://www.dismalscanyon.com/photogalleries/canyonfloor/popup/Rainbow_falls_2.html - broken link)

Dismals Canyon, or "The Dismals," in northwest Alabama near Russellville, is a unique area with flora and fauna not found anywhere else. It is not a public park. It's a private natural conservancy. Camping and cabins are available, but it's also neat for a day trip.

There's a waterfall, trails, and even tiny glowworms that actually glow at night.

Thompson Falls in Marshall county. The falls are a well kept secret and finding it is a challenge since there are no signs. Not a huge waterfall but its pretty when there has been rain.

Unfortunately ppl have used it to dump their trash. There is a cleanup scheduled of the area in Oct.

I will try to find a map and post it.

Default Tuscaloosa- Children's Hands On Museum

We just got back from there.
It's a little pricey , but it's $7 for children over 3, adults $6, under age 3 $4.

Everything you can touch and kids dress up, pretend they are doctors, store keepers, etc. They have a very complete hospital, a 1700's Choctaw village, Japanese house, etc. My kids loved it!

My favorite place would be Cheaha State Park. It is a heavily wooded area that will be breath-taking when the fall colors arrive. They have a dining area with a great view. The kicker is that this is the highest observation point in Alabama at 2407'. Tie this trip in with Talladega Speedway, and you have a very full day.

The U.S.S. Alabama and it's park area is great for those who love War type relics. besides the battle ship they have a submarine also and the tours are rather inexpensive.
