Default Any thoughts on Seminole, Al. / high crime rate for Baldwin County ???

Id like to live around Pensacola and am looking for a quiet little town yet is close to beaches and larger towns for shopping. Any thoughts on Seminole, Al. to semi-retire ? I also retrieved some crime statistics on Baldwin County and it is astonishing for its population. Any thoughts on this ? (Ill post the crime report right after this) . Thanks.

CityData didnt have a report for Seminole, so, I pulled this one off of a google search : Crime . Looking at some of these statistics, it seems crime is a pastime for Baldwin County (???) .

The problem with those stats they are from 2000 so it could be better or worse now. I had never heard of Seminole and I am from Mobile and have been to Baldwin county too many times to count.

Baldwin county is big and some areas are safer than others. I think you will find that area is safe. Crime is more in the larger cities such as Bay Minette and Foley. Many folks in Fairhope still do not lock their doors.

Maybe someone from Daphne can tell you more about that area.

Seminole is not actually a city, it's more of a community. It's a nice quiet area with low crime, and so is Lillian. Most of the crime probably comes from the poorer areas of Bay Minette. Some of the crime is also commited by tourists (think spring break) or by people passing through on I-10.

You are right about that........

A girl I met who lives in Fairhope said that when they bought their house, the owner never locked the door and even could not find the key!

No matter where I lived (unless it was a deserted island), I would be locking my door! My mom never locks the door in Fairhope; I think it's stupid and dangerous.

When we lived out in West Mobile( many neighbors didn't lock doors, although we always did), we had some criminals who apparently were on the get-a-way from some crime they did. They dumped their car (stolen) on our street, and went looking for dumb neighbors who "feel so safe they don't lock their doors". They went through everyone's unlocked cars, garages, stole tvs, and finally found a car with the key in it and took it. They were lucky the criminals didn't come in their homes.

I agree with you, I guess I lived in FL too long but I always lock my doors. My sister who lives in Baldwin county rarely locks her doors. When I stayed at her house while they were out of town, you can be sure I locked them.

I remember when no one locked their doors in Mobile, but that was more than a few years ago.

REPLY: Im afraid it is because although Fairhope residents may be quite moral and respectful, there are roads that run thru Fairhope which very undesirable people could travel without any regard for your property (or life for that matter) .
