Default Moving to AL soon....Questions

Good morning.
My husband and I are finally completely tired of the Florida atmosphere and have decided to move to Alabama.
He has found a house in Oneonta that he absolutely loves.
Can anyone tell me about the area.
I grew up in Trussvile but have been away from Alabama since 1990, so my memory on the area is rather dated.
We are looking to find out about the area, people, shopping, traffic, etc.
Are there other areas around there that might be just as comperable?
Thanks for any help.
Tracy

Welcome fellow Floridian...It is a nice area. I live in Arab which is N. of Oneonta. I don't know if we have anyone here who is familiar with Oneonta, but maybe someone will pop in.

People in this area are nice and friendly. Everyone will invite you to their church but they aren't pushy about it. Traffic is not an issue unless you go into B'ham or H'ville. I have only been to Oneonta once, but it seemed to have a nice shopping area. Very pretty in the mountains and countryside. You aren't that far from B'ham.

You should come up soon, fall colors are just starting and should be in full color by next week.

Hi and good morning.
I actually came up Sunday and flew home Monday. Job interview. Keep your fingers crossed.....
The trees and the changing leaves are beautiful. We get either green or brown here LOL If I am selected for this job, I will be up by mid November, husband by December time frame.
We are looking in areas that are either on or close to mountains there. Just because the views are great. Of course, from the areas I have seen (Warrior, Hayden, Locust Fork, Oneonta, Odenville) I am heading in the right direction for views.
Driving, for me anyway, would mean into Acton Rd. area. So, hopefully that isn't too far.
Thank you for your helpfulness......just like I told my husband, people are so much friendlier in AL than Florida.

WOW from Oneonta to Acton Road in Birmingham is a good one hour drive, without traffic.
