I'm sure we all have better things to worry about, and it's probably OK the feds spend our money thinking about what could happen.
There was a big one in Missouri in 1812 (8.0 and several others) that destroyed the town of New Madrid and was felt back on the east coast, IIRC.
It's just something you don't think about much in this part of the country.
I'm guessing like any other natural disaster, the decentralized parts of the country are resiliant while the urban areas need help just getting out alive.
