When they start moving out here, they bring the drug trade with them. There are always going to be bad apples following populations around. The Mexican DTOs (Drug Trade Organizations) are all over the South. It's largely marijuana (which I don't have a problem with), and I'm not sure if they bring in cocaine over here. Most of it probably comes through Miami, although the Mexican DTOs do bring lots of it over the border, I don't know if they bring much this way.

Default Foley/Elberta area

We have close friends that moved down to Foley about 6 years ago - they are retired and love it. We visited over spring break to check the area out and really interested in the Elberta area. The school ratings are very good. We're from Indiana and wanting to relocate to the area within the next year. Like everyone else, we know selling our home here will take time. We have 2 girls - 8 and 11 and educational opportunities are paramount for us. From what I can gather, there is access to museums, zoos, etc. within a reasonable driving distance. We've lived in Florida and found the school excellent but you have to really check them out. Many are very overcroweded. We just liked the "home town" feel of the Foley/Elberta area. Reading posts very carefully for feedback from people who actually are in the area.
