I didn't see any empty cop cars this trip. I'm leaving on my return trip to Altanta and want to know the exit number or signage to the Cherry Av exit off I-22. I don't want to miss that exit and wind up on 78 thru jasper area and downtown Birmingham. Any help would be grateful.

Just drive until they make you get off. That's Cherry Avenue.
And, good news for motorists, the interstate is about to be opened another few miles to Coalburg Road, shaving even more time off.
I'm afraid I gave bad information on an earlier post, however. The final interchange will be complete in 2012, not 2010. I know a guy who does road construction, and he claims the freeway's route is one of the toughest terrain possible, hence the prolonged construction time.

One other thing. Be careful when approaching Cordova, which is a few miles SE of Jasper. They have set up flying squadrons of motorcycle cops on the interstate there. They will hand out speeding tickets like it's an assembly line. I guess they miss all the revenue from old Highway 78.

Because it's not an interstate yet. A road can only be called an interstate once it is connected to another interstate. I know, it it appears that it is already connected to one in Memphis, but they never finished what they started up there. So, once the interchange with I-65 and US 31 is completed in Birmingham it will become an interstate.
65 speed limit is the highest possible for a US highway, which is was that road technically is at the moment.

For those dependent on buses, those who will never own or drive a car, do you think they're going to lose a minute's sleep over this?
I say, for those that use these socialistic roads, let the users pay for it with tolls.
