I do not know anything about GA, but alabama in my opinion seems to be reasonably priced. It is cheaper to live in the county than in the city as far as property tax, car registration etc. The community where I have a house that is available is a quiet area in Toney, AL.

Default GA vs. Alabama

Alabama's maximum income tax rate is 5% vs GA 6%. Alabama does not tax social security benefits, regardless of other income and Alabama's property tax rates are among the lowest, if not the lowest, in the nation. Hope this helps you to at least consider Alabama. I've lived in AL all but 5 of my 65 years and it is a great place!

Question If Huntsville, Alabama, is the 2nd cheapest place to live--what are the other cities?

Where is this information from? I would love to look it up as I am sure others here would.
If Huntsville--which I have heard nice things about--is the second cheapest, who is first, third and so forth?
