The stereotyping backfires - Congrats Arab
Bless their little hearts, they try to stereotype Alabama. Perhaps they do a better job of stereotyping themselves???
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Hailey Woldt put on the traditional black abaya, expecting the worst.
The last time she'd worn the Muslim dress that, with a head scarf, covered everything but her face, hands and feet, she was in Miami International Airport, where the stares were many and the security check thorough.
This time, she was in a small town called Arab. Arab, Alabama, no less.
"I expected people to say, 'What is this terrorist doing here? We don't want your kind here,' " said Woldt, a 22-year-old blue-eyed Catholic, recalling her anticipation before stepping into a local barbecue joint. "I thought I wouldn't even be served."
Instead, Woldt's experiment in social anthropology opened her own eyes. Apart from the initial glances reserved for any outsider who might venture through a small-town restaurant's doors, her experience was a pleasant one.
On her way to the bathroom, Woldt said, "One woman's jaw dropped, but then she smiled at me. ... That little smile just makes you feel so much better."
Muslim in America: a 'voyage of discovery' - CNN.com
I do have to chuckle at the idea of a blue eyed muslim terrorist. Maybe she took a cue from Al Jolson?

I have to chuckle at a blue eyed muslim going to a BBQ restaurant in Arab.
I doubt that the BBQ was halal...
Good one harry.

I am sure ppl did stare as it isn't something you see here every day. Some of the olde timers I am sure where surprised to see someone with a head scarf in Arab and I bet they told everyone they know about it.
At least she went to a good BBQ restaurant!!!

Boy, that was annoying. I was so ticked off that I had to breathe fire and leave some remarks on the CNN website. I feel better now.

They have an ireport video on the visit.
An Arab in Arab, Alabama - iReport.com
At least they got an education. Maybe next time they will bring someone dressed in a chicken suit? Those guys in camo looked pretty dangerous.

You know what I find really interesting? When I gave my feedback, there were two ratings, both five stars, for the video. I gave it two stars, which sent the rating plunging to a cumulative three-star rating.
Guess what? My two-star rating has been removed, so now the overall rating for the iReport video is back up to five stars. Wow, if this is how CNN does everything, then it really is run by a bunch of agenda driven hacks.

LOL! I've known that for years. Good for you trying to leave a rating. Maybe a trip to Atlanta and a scurious video report on the CNN news headquarters is in order? There have to be some redneck signs, a BBQ nearby that shows bias, and a bunch of other comuppances.

Yeah we need to fund an I-Report segment on my old neighborhood. Round up a down-home dude with a mess of kids and a muddy lifted 4X4 and send him "inside the beltway" for some intrepid reporting.
See how he's treated when he valets at an upscale joint.

Maybe we should dress someone up in camo pants and a rebel flag t-shirt and send them to a restaurant in a tolerant state like Massachusetts. They'd probably burn him at the stake.
