Question Questions about Repton

Can anyone tell me some history of Repton, Al? My mother was born there in 1924-25. Are records available or was this too far back for recordkeeping for the area? Thanks, just trying to put the pieces together.

Repton is not very far from where I live. I wish I had some good historical info for you but I can't think of any. It's in Conecuh County, so whatever records there are would be at the courthouse in Evergreen.

Maybe this site will give you a start..

Alabama Counties: Conecuh

I don't know if you're still looking...if you are Repton has a website that may help you.

This may help you:
Repton Restoration Society, Mayor Terri Carter
Repton, Concecuh County, Alabama 36475

A little story about Repton. Quote from the website "reptonalabama.com" and Repton's self appointed queen "Terri Carter" (Yes, I'm not fond of her; however, she is the authority on all things Repton).

Graduating from High School meant wearing a
DRESS for Ms. Harper Lee, author of
“To Kill a Mockingbird”. Ms. Harper was not
very fond of wearing that dress and would have
preferred to skip the ceremony to avoid the dress.

Just before graduation, Ms. Harper had an
appendicitis attack and ended up in Carter
Hospital where Dr. W.R. Carter performed an
appendectomy. Therefore, Ms. Harper was able
to avoid the graduation ceremony and the dress!
Her family laughed and teased that it was premeditated
and she had done this on purpose!

Realizing Ms. Harper missed her graduation,
Dr. Carter sent for her diploma. When it
arrived, he entered her room, gave a
baccalaureate speech and presented Ms. Harper
Lee with her High School Diploma!
