Default Help me with new home area!

I am living in Florida, in an area that is becoming way too expensive to own a home in. I would like to move to another state, but I have certain criteria to look for:

*it has to be hot-no cold or snow!
*not in a flood area
*hiring teachers and city mailmen (not rural)
*affordable housing (anywhere in the hundred thousands)
*good schools and low crime

Any recommendations would be great!

Don't know where you are in Florida, but we are in the same boat, but I am on a fixed income.

We just bought a brand new home in Slocomb, AL, it is just outside the circle of Dothan, AL by 10 mile, as it worked out instead of being in Houston County we are in Geneva county and the taxes are a bit cheaper.

Sure hope we do not see any snow, but being here in SW FL it is not going to be the same, and that you have to expect if you are going to move north, so we will adjust just like we did down here.

We also had certain criteria that we were looking for,
1. Privicy
2. Pool

Well we got the place that I can make the place private, no pool but it no big deal, it will come, but we gave up a little to gain a lot in as much as it is a brand new home. I got no flood ins, my home owners is 1/3 of what I pay now and my property taxes are 1/2 or less than we are paying till we apply for the Homestead then it drops even more?,

We just got home Wednesday and gas was $2.61 compared to 2.85 down here, save another $.20 cents, did we sell our house? yes, are we moving?yes did we make the right decision? only time will tell, but I know it will not get any cheaper to live here.

The contractor has the slab ready for the next house to us, wonder who our neighbors will be?

Try Oxford Alabama. It seems like it would have everything you are looking for.

Exclamation House Hunting

Check with some of the local banks that have foreclosed properties for sale. If you can obtain my e-mail address, I can give you the web site for the bank that I work for that sells foreclosed houses.

I'm not sure what you consider cold, but even the southernmost area of the state sometimes gets down to the teens during the winter. Typically 50's-70's during the day, 20's-40's at night. I know Baldwin County was short on teachers last year. They even hired foreigners to come and teach because they couldn't find any here.
