Yeah, you really don't even notice that little screen with the bingo card on it.
I went a few nights ago to eat the buffet and had a disappointing experience, my waiter/waitress never came around (I never saw him/her). Myself and the people at the next table had to pile our dirty plates on the seat between us . I let them know what I thought about it on my way out. I guess it wasn't that big of a deal since I live in Atmore and didn't drive far, but if I were someone that had driven for hours to get there it would have made me not want to go back. It's usually not like that so maybe that was a one time thing.

snl - I hope they fix that problem, because I would hate for them to get a bad reputation. Especially since they aspire to a four-diamond / luxury hotel rating. The Poarch Family restaurant next door was packed.
I just read that the Casino is building a Spa, Cooking Studio / School, and outdoor amphitheater. They are on the way to a full-service resort.
Plus, they had a gas station / cigarette outlet by the Casino. I don't smoke so I forgot to ask the clerk - are the cigarette prices lower? Untaxed?
BTW, I thought that the Atmore Advance was pretty good for a small town paper. I was surprised to see that they let a HS student write the editorial ("Reaganism key to economic recovery") - Right on!

Its not right for Gov. Riley to take jobs from the people in this area, since he is doing nothing for them.

I knew about the ampitheater but I haven't heard anything about the cooking school .
The cigarettes are cheaper at the cigarette outlet (known as the "smoke shop" around here). I don't know the exact price since I don't smoke, but plenty of people here buy their cartons of cigarettes there. Back before the new casino was built there was a big metal building there and it was an old style bingo hall, it looked like a warehouse and was nothing fancy. Back then the smoke shop was a double wide trailer outside with a drive up window.

Does the state of Alabama get any taxes off the profits from that casino?
The reason I ask is cuz my state( Minnesota) has 18 casinos ( all have nearly everything that Las Vegas offers , hotels also) and the state recieves no money whatsoever from the casino's profits.

marmac - AFAIK the State doesn't receive any extra taxes off the Casino (I think the Casino pays sales taxes). The State needs to execute a Treaty (Compact) with the Creeks, but IIRC the Governor doesn't want to sign a treaty basically legalizing gambling. Note that I'm not real clear on all that yet.
I do know that the 'Sweet Home Alabama Bingo Bill' doesn't really cover the Creek Casinos, other than requiring the Governor to negotiate and sign a compact with the Creeks by 'x' date.
snl - I got the info from the Creek website and downloaded their Newsletter pdf. Lots of people named McGhee... BTW, is the Casino on the Reservation? I thought the reservation was west of Atmore at Poarch.

LOL, If they're a 'McGhee' or a 'Rolin' they're a Creek Indian. Everybody knows everybody around here.
The actual reservation is off of exit 54, not exit 57 where the casino is located. The tribe does own the spot that the casino sits on however, and there was some housing there behind the old bingo hall but it was bulldozed for the casino.
