Default robertsdale, foley

interested in the robertsdale area, i was there in 2002-2003 I love that area, looks like the home prices have gone up considerably, hows the economy in that area, did it suffer much from the hurricanes? looking at moving to a more family oreinted slower pace life style, positives, negatives, about the area?

Default Foley area

Hi Silas, I live about 45 minutes from Foley near Atmore. Foley has really built up in the past few years. It has recovered from Ivan, mostly just the coast is still in the mending and insurance litigation process from that. I often thought I would like to live in Elberta which is in between Foley and Pensacola. It is a quaint small town and from the looks of it, there are many places for sale all over the area. Lots of people are moving from NW Fla. and nearby cities b/c of skyrocketing insurance prices. It is possible that the prices of homes has come down due to the flooded market. North of Foley off of Rt. 59 is Rt. 31 and a quaint town of Bay Minette. They just got a Walmart there so it is still pretty uncrowded and rural there. Good luck w/your move!

Robertsdale, Summerdale and Silverhill are nice little towns. My family live in Summerdale (the area, not the town). I like Foley and Robertsdale but the traffic is bad especially during the summer. My sister's house has never had any bad damage from hurricanes but they were without electricity for a week or more. You might also want to look into buying a lot and building a house. SS Steele is a good builder, not fancy but reasonable. They have been building homes for over 40 years in the Mobile area. They built a home for family member and they just love it.

steveklein will become famous soon enough
i love the foley/gulf shores area.

as long as you are >1 mile inland (read: out of reach from the gulf of mexico), hurricanes are no big deal. you will lose power, but you will lose power in birmingham too.

there is a ton of development going on in foley, and as mentioned, to areas immediately to the east (like elberta). the foley beach express is probably helping spur some of this growth. the area along the express is still rural now, though some subdivisions are popping up, and i've noticed at least 1 or 2 condo developments going up. and there are land for sale signs EVERYWHERE, so i imagine over the next 10 years, the area will REALLY grow up.

Default Gulf Shores/Foley

If anyone is interested in relocating to the Gulf Shores/Foley area, you should definitely make it to our homebuyer seminar we are putting on this spring in Foley. I work for a Government backed lender and we are getting together with some of the developers in the area to put this on. I've been doing my research and I think that Baldwin County in general is a great place to be and it's on its way up. There's definite growth happening there. Amidst all of the real estate/mortgage upheaval it would be great to get the residents together to address some of the issues they may be dealing with and also to get rid of the crazy idea that now is not the time to buy. I'll keep everyone posted on when and where this seminar is going to take place.
