 I've been doing some reading on the internet, and have come up with some conclusions. This is only my opinion... Between slow CD sales, and piracy of them, it's not a good time for recording artists. By being the front-men for some nameless people, they are being compensated nicely for their endorsements. Then the probably pooled their money to buy a share of the organization. It seems an overabundence of money leads to greed. They say a percentage goes to education, but you can bet their slice of pie will be bigger, and only get bigger...

[From all the advertising and periodicals, no mention is ever given to sit-down type Bingo. All I've ever seen was people playing machines, or the State hauling them away.QUOTE=marmac;8209895]question?--------is the proposed bingo played on individual machines, or on cards with everyone playing the same game at the same time ?[/quote]

 I've sat through a Financial Seminar at church which was given through noted speaker Dave Ramsey. I still remeber him referring to a lottery as a "Poor Man's Tax. Think about it - How many rich people are standing in line to play. The odds alway seem to stink. You may win a little, but then you think the next ticket is the winner. Just a scaled-down version of Vegas.

Whew that felt good.

-" Poor Man's Tax"-----
I've also heard buying lottery tickets referred to as " Poor Man's IRA"
( I even use that phrase when I buy my weekly lottery tickets )

marmac - you wouldn't recognize the game as 'bingo'. It is played on electronic slot machines or video poker machines (if you've been to a casino then you know what they look like).
You play the slot machines like you would any slot and then the slot machines play an electronic version of 'bingo' in the background with no input from the player. The 'bingo' is a simulation that runs in the background and is displayed on a small inset on the screen - there are no physical cards - nobody calls out B-5 and nobody yells bingo.
Bingo = slot machines.
I do not support the Sweet Home Bingo Bill because it creates a monopoly for a few people (i.e., McGregor, Gilley).
I would vote for gambling if it meant the lottery and / or casinos like Harrah's (and others)

You support gambling but not bingo

But either way one thing can lead to another.

If the states surrounding Bama have it, you might as well have it here or those that choose to gamble will be donating to states other than their own.

greetings to my neighbors in Alabama. this is my first post in a long time so please don't beat me up to bad. Michigan introduced lotto ticket sales many years ago with a lot of hype about it going for schools and education. well in a short period of time it started to become siphoned off into the general fund instead, without any accountability. this form of gambling was presented to the populace and a vote was cast in favor. now the schools are in bad shape again and the revenue is going where?????

 I lived in Pennsylvania, when Atlantic City was the raging place to go. I remember the casinos would give you a free bus ride, a free buffet, and $10 dollar roll of quarters to go. You thought - how nice of them... The promise was that it would clean up the city. remodel the airport, etc. Well, same old story of broken promises. They had their own version of the mob controlling it. If people want to gamble, let them go elsewhere, so they can leave the mess there. It's not worth the trouble in the long run...
