That's true, I have to agree with you on the casinos, but what about the lottery. Personally I don't play it or gamble( hate to lose), but your state should take advantage of the people that do even if it helps just a little, but again I agree no casinos.

mimpdaddy - sorry to be unclear - I support gambling including bingo (and bingo slot machines, regular slot machines, video poker, table games, track betting, off-track betting, scratch-offs, lotteries, let me know if I left anything out - I probably support that too).

I do not support the Sweet Home Alabama bingo bill because it creates a monopoly and enriches a handful of people.

In this situation I think it will help more than a handful.
But it might not be for every where?

I don't understand why people are saying it will create a monopoly. Their are 14 different owners through out the state that will initially be covered by this bill. I say initially because the bill says that ANYONE who is willing to pony up the necessary capital can open a location in the counties that are already approved and ANY county that would like to have this can approve it at there level and get added to the list. This does not sound like a monopoly to me, it sounds like they are trying to put guidelines in place so that this doesn't get out of control and gets limited to "places of destination" like the tourism board planned it.

When traveling through or to a state that has a lottery I buy a few. Just for fun. I dont make a trip just for that.

I do not play bingo or visit casinos.

But being as I am a personal choice/freedom kinda guy I think whatever you do with your money is none of my business and I can always opt out of visiting places that host same ventures.

The church folks need to mind their own business and quit telling me I can not do something just because they personally dont agree with it.
