Miss English Import is on a distinguished road
Default Job prospects and lifestyle for a british girl in Auburn

I am moving either to Dadeville or Auburn this July. I wondered if anyone could tell me how easy it is to find work (without a college degree) at the moment, with the economy being as it is. I will be working for a year before hopefully applying for the affordable in state college tuition at auburn. I am able to do this because I am married to an alabamian!

Which areas of the aurburn/ dadeville area would you recommend and why?

Also, as I spent 2 months in alabama last summer the move will not be a huge culture shock, but I am a little apprehensive that the fact that I am not religious, and a vegetarian will make it difficult to fit in and make friends in the community.

Other than that I am really looking forward to the gorgeous weather, landscape and friendly laid back attitude of the people I met last summer.

bintheham is on a distinguished road
to be completely honest i would say move to the birmingham area and attend school at UAB. If you move to the b'ham area then the culture shock may not be that bad and there is also alot of things to do in the ham and as far as you being vegetarian bham would definately be the place lots of great veggy friendly places around town...

Don't believe the myth that everyone down here is religious, because they're not. If you're under 40, most people you meet your age probably wont even go to church. The vegan thing might be a little more difficult, but I'd imagine that would be the case anywhere. If you're already used to finding things to eat everywhere else you likely wont have a problem here either. I can't give advice in employment since it seems to vary from town to town.
