Moving to Alabama
So, I'm debating moving to Alabama here in maybe the next year or so. I'm looking for a place that has a Publix within 20min of it. Is on the safe side, and has agricultural land.
Any ideas on where to look?

Why are you debating moving to Alabama? From where? Where else are you considering?
What line of work are you in?
Are you going to rent or buy?
Budget or price range?
Married?
Kids? Ages?
Hampton Cove, 35763 meets your requirements.

Moving in with a boyfriend of mine. I'm moving from Florida. Were pretty much considering all over since his company is just about everywhere.
I work as a cake decorator for Publix.
We would like something around $150k-$175k. Preferably with at least 2-3 acres that I can have a horse on.
We want to buy.
Not married yet. No kids and not likely to have any in the future.
We would be willing to just purchase the land and build the house on it. It might actually end up being easier that way.

For northern Alabama, like near Huntsville, here is a really good website to find property, houses, and rentals:
ValleyMLS.com
I found 616 properties of two acres or more for less than $200K.

Here's the location of the stores:
Publix Stores in Alabama
Aside from 1 store in Gulf Shores, all the others are in Birmingham, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville areas.

Fairhope in Baldwin County will fit your request as well. It does hve a Publix and is right next door to Florida( 30 min) and is near agriculture.

Decatur has a lot of land on the outskirts of the city, and it would only take about 5 to 10 minutes to get to the Publix on The Beltline.
There are some very nice tracts of land out there that people already own barns and stables with many horses at. A great place that I've always thought was beautiful is the Chapel Hill area of Decatur, it's just off Danville Rd, so it would only take about 5 min to get to the Publix. And that with bad traffic

I moved to N. AL from Tampa, 3 1/2 years ago. I live in Arab, although there is no Publix in Arab
there is one in S. H'ville about 20 minutes away. There are a lot of rural areas and the traffic is nothing compared to Tampa. There isn't a lot of crime in the small cities.
Housing and land are cheaper up here as are property tax and HOI. There is a state income tax but it is still cheaper to live up here than in FL

No, they move because "There are a lot of rural areas and the traffic is nothing compared to Tampa...." and "There isn't a lot of crime in the small cities...." and because it's cheaper to live in Alabama and the humidity is lower and because Florida has changed from what it was when they first moved there. Plus a lot of other good reasons...many of which are the same reasons people move from Alabama to Florida.
