Default Working at Mobile Infirmary

I am a medical transcriptionist working in east central Alabama. I've recently applied for a job at the Mobile Infirmary hospital system. I've visited several times to Mobile (attended Mardi Gras, spent vacations at Dauphin Island, Gulf Shores, and Fairhope), and think I would love living there, especially Baldwin County, but wouldn't have any family close by. I do have two cousins in Pensacola, though. Any suggestions or advice before (or IF) I get an interview for this position? Anyone work for Mobile Infirmary? I'm not sure at which specific hospital this would be--probably not Thomas Hospital -- that would be too lucky!

Mobile Infirmary is it's own hospital, it's on Springhill Ave near downtown. It's not my favorite hospital, but many people like it. Providence Hospital on Airport Blvd would be my preference if I were looking for a hospital job in Mobile.

Since you have family in Pensacola have you considered the hospitals there? Sacred Heart and West Florida are both great hospitals.

Default Thanks for the suggestions

I'd have to get a new tag and take a driver's test to move to Florida, not to mention having to replace my AU car tag . Years and years ago, I had an offer from one of these cousins to stay with her while job hunting in Pensacola, but I took a job near my hometown to be closer to my widowed mother. I've wondered many times how my life would be different if I had taken her up on her offer. She lives in Gulf Breeze and it's beautiful there. Not too sure about Pensacola proper, however. Perhaps there are nicer areas I'm unaware of. I've heard good things about Sacred Heart Hospital, thanks again!

Some parts of P'cola are okay, others are not. I live an equal distance from Mobile and Pensacola, so I go to both cities for doctors and shopping.

West Florida is a great hospital as well, in fact it just underwent a major renovation.

Here's a link to Providence as well, we locals call it "Flintstone manor" LOL

Mobile Infirmaray is better by all means not to mention I have relatives and friends who are nurses at Providence. They have mentioned of some lay offs in certain postions at Providence. On the other hand I hav`t heard of any at the Infirmary though. The Infirmary also pays more and is onwd by the Univeristy of South Alabama as well. Providence is nice my mother has been with them for 18 years but she likes Springhill Medical center better as an employer. So if the Infrimary offerd the job to you go for it !!
