How long a drive to Foley or to Robertsdale? We are considering a private school for our 2 boys and Foley and Robertsdale have some private schools. Do the locals seem receptive to newcomers? Is it a buyers' market as far as housing? Is there a better area of Lillian to live in? Any comments on crime, drugs or anything else as far as information that you feel a newcomer would like to know would be appreciated. You can PM if you wish instead of posting on the board. Thanks.

I was under the impression there were a lot of retirees in Lillian.. is that a misconception on my part?

I went to Lillian when I was in AL and FL gulf coast last December, right across Perdido Bay from Pensacola NAS along US 98. Not a lot of activity around town. I would guess that homeowners insurance there would be higher than towns further inland. There are some very nice waterfront homes along with a mixed assortment of other homes around town. This would be a place for people who like boats and fishing and living near the water, probably much less expensive than other waterfront towns.

Thanks for being willing to help with info. Im considering Lillian, Al , so heres some questions :

1. Is storm surge a problem for Lillian during a strong storm and Hurricane ?
2. Are there any yearly events in Lillian that you would highly recommend ?
3. Is there alot of traffic thru Lillian from Pensacola when people go to/get out of work ? How about on the weekends ?
4. What are some drawbacks to living in or around Lillian ?
5. Has there been much population growth for Lillian within the last few years ?
6. What is Elberta and Josephine like and are they smaller towns than Lillian?
7. Do you have a Walmart/Home DePot/Lowes in or close to Lillian ?
8. How long have you lived in Lillian and is there another town within 1 hour drive that youd rather live ?

Again, thank you much for your help. Ill check back.

I think that is because it isn't a city per se .. but a community. They do have a website.. lillian.org . I tried to get you a link but it crashed firefox.

We have lived between Lillian and Elberta, just a few miles east of Foley for 12 Years. It is a great rural area and our children attend a wonderful Private School St. Benedict, K-3 thru 8, in Elberta. Our area is 23 miles from downtown Pensacola and about 14 miles from Foley. In 25 mins. or less you can be to the beach, great concerts and outlet shopping. There are many inland waterways for boating, fishing and skiing. We love it here.
