Default Arab Acceptance

We are planning to move to Arab. We have two daughters we adopted from Guatemala. My husband, my other daughters and myself are caucasian. I have read a lot of things on this forum regarding racism in Alabama. Our two youngest daughters were adopted as infants (now age five years) and do not see themselves as being any different than the rest of the family. My concern is whether we will have any problems being accepted as a family and especially if our two youngest daughters will be accepted. Could you please give me your thoughts and opinions? Thank you.

Honestly, if I may ask why wouldnt you move your family to a more "Diverse" part of the country? perhaps maybe New York State or even Texas.. Im curious to know why you choose Alabama for your destination?
No offense and I mean that, but even in todays society alot of folks in the South will simply not accept certain races other then White Christian whether they are innocent children or not.

While I live in Arab I can't speak for everyone in Arab but from what I have seen and heard I think you will find Arab a nice place to live. Is there racism, of course there is, but racism exsist in a lot of places not just in the south. A lot of the people who live in Arab work at the Arsenal or are in military who have lived and worked in other places. There are kids of latin origin who go to school here and are accepted. In fact, one is my grandson's girlfriend. Hope this helps ease your mind. If you have any questions about Arab I will be glad to answer to the best of my ability

I agree. Take your kids somewhere nice or at least decent.

Nope it's not the others invading. It's the locals that make it not decent.

I'm talking to anyone who has a problem with our small town-rural community. See .... we like to keep things pure, and simple. The less riff raff moving in to towns like Arab from the outside... the better off it'll be.
