Anyone know of any realtors for this area? I would like to see what is available there. We want to move to a rural type area where we can have a large garden and maybe a few chickens. We would like about 10 acres. We are so boring that staying home seems fun to us. We don't want a big city to retire. Thanks if you can help!

I moved to N. AL from Tampa in 05. What are your requirements besides acreage? How close to a city/town, health care and price range?
I love living up here. It is so nice and homes are very reasonable. Property taxes will shock you in a good way.

Depending on where you retire from you may not have to pay state income tax on your retirement.

We want to buy now and move after our son settles in college in a few years. We don't want urban or big city life. Tampa has outgrown us. We both grew up with farming family and want a return to the simple life. We want an inexpensive house. We can fix up any home, no matter how bad, as long as it has at least 2 or more acres (the more the better). We now own, maintain, and manage rental homes along with our regular jobs. We also volunteer and help a lot of older people with their homes. We are looking for a good deal, but it seems everyime I get in touch with realtors about a listing I see on the internet, it has already been sold. My brother wants to come up too. As a widower with a 7 year old, he needs a school nearby for his boy. We could even split a property if it's big enough, but no more than about 20 acres together. Please feel free to private message me if you have any advise or questions. I would love the input.
