Gadsden: Things to do? Also, post your pics...
Just curious - if someone were to take a drive into Gadsden for a weekend day (Saturday), what would you suggest they do? It's a little-known town over here in the Atlanta area, but folks here are always looking for places to make a "day trip" to for touristy stuff. Is it a typical sleepy small southern town, or are there more tourist-specific things around to check out?
If you have pics, post those, too. (keep them at a reasonable size so as not to bog things down). I know folks who would be interested and am always looking for places to suggest for day trips as well.
Thanks

My family holds family reunions at Noccalula Falls. Most of them are from your part of the world,Duluth,Ga., with others strung out along Peachtree.I could spend days walking the trails at Noccalula hunting the petroglyphs and trying to locate the hidden caves we found as kids.I wonder if they still have the Old West shoot-outs and the little zoo? Those monkies had some serious mental problems.
Peace

My husband is from Gadsden. When we go there for a visit, we hit the Falls mentioned in an earlier post and eat wings at Jefferson's downtown-YUM! There is also a little chocolate shop downtown with yum iced coffee. Thet also have a few little statues and monuments in that area.

Historical Tours of Downtown Gadsden
I posted this elsewhere but will also post here. Each Saturday in June there is a Downtown Historical Tour at 10 AM. Todays topic is on theaters of downtown. Mike Goodson does a great job with the local history. For more info call 2565468929 and ask for Terry. Also next weekend there will be a cemetary dosier at the Nichols Genealogical Society's Library and River Feswt. Call the same number and she can help get you with the correct persopn for more info.
