Oh yeah, the cost of living is nice. When I moved back down here my car insurance dropped by more than half for the same coverages.

We've lived in several places across the country - mostly courtesy of Uncle Sam, but WE CHOSE Alabama!

As already mentioned.... LOW personal and property taxes!

Respect for funeral processions - people actually stop and no one is laying on their horn or giving you the finger because you stop!

Oncoming drivers wave hello to you as you pass or if you're on the side of the road walking (and they use the hand, not just one finger )!

We have four seasons!

Friendly, friendly, friendly people who will go out of their way to help!!!

Well, for all the years I've been down here, most of the people are friendly.

Sometimes I walk into a grocery store or something and people will sometimes speak even though I'm a little quiet...for a lack of a better word.

And FOOOD. When it comes to food, nothing beats good southern cooking especially soul food made right.

Respect for funeral processions........ yes!

Born and raised in AL, married a yankee. I love Southern culture and the laid back way of life here. I will move to PA in the near future to care for an aging parent, but will miss the southern way of life. I'm taking grits and sweet tea with me
