Where to say in Tuscaloosa for one night
I'm spending one night in Tuscaloosa, can anyone recommend a nice place under $100?

Hi!
I like the Jameson...and the Fairfield. Avoid Sleep Inn!
Be sure you are not staying on a football weekend...prices zoom up and often hotels require a three-night stay.

Actually Sleep Inn is one of the places I was thinking about, why do you say avoid it?

The Tuscaloosa Sleep Inn is an old motel, not the newer Sleep Inns. I reviewed it on Tripadvisor. Want sheets without cigarette burn holes? Pillows that aren't flat? Bring your own. Among other issues.

I stayed there some 20-some years ago! It was fine then, and I know I've seen them do a couple of extensive renovations since our stay. It's right next to the interstate, so you might want to take earplugs...just in case.
Actually, it's probably been 4 or 5 years since we've overnighted in Tuscaloosa in a hotel. We usually drive down and back for games. While daughter was in school we stayed in her apartment.

The Motel 6 had cockroaches. I could tell. I looked closely.
Although there were many, they seemed well behaved and didn't make the trip back in my car, for which I'm grateful.

It's hard to beat a Comfort Suites as most are pretty new and the service is great. I noticed though that the one on McFarland is $125 a night I recently stayed in one in another state for less than half that.

Yes, stayed there for daughter's graduation. Rooms were worn out, and the hotel was full of cheerleaders in town for a competition. After 10 p.m., though, they were quiet. Stay away from Motel 6 if at all possible!

It was probably a Friday or Saturday during football season.

Thanks everyone for advise! Does anyone know if there is a football game in town on the 9th that would cause rooms not be available?
