Well everyone I know who moved here from FL is still here. I know at least 15 families who moved here from FL. I know that isn't a lot of ppl but it is if you consider how small this town is and I am just one person.

I know you moved to a remote depressed but beautiful area. It can be hard to make friends especially if you live in the country.

I hope you are happy now that you are back in FL

I moved my family from FL to AL over 2 years ago. If I ever had to move back to Florida, I would do so kicking and screaming.

I suppose it would be a culture shock if you moved here from South Florida, but the northern half of Florida is similar to Alabama.

If she came from Brandon, I can see where the culture shock came from. I have relatives in Brandon.

What happened to the Sears catalog?

On a serious note - Munich to Weedowee that was a real culture shock in the 80s. Several moves later we were in Birmingham. I really miss Birmingham and the people there. None of these constant questions here were an issue from church to food to multi-culti/multi-colored. Just down to earth folks with their personal quirks who accepted us in their neighborhood, who helped out when we needed help and accepted help when we gave it.

Yes but Brandon isn't north FL, it might as well be considered Tampa.

Alabama was not a good move for me. My family was cultured shocked.

Anyway, was wondering if many of those Florida people are still in AL or did they move back?

No work in AL or FL.

Don't move to Fort Payne unless your fully retired with a guaranteed check, or you'll be broke.

Sorry I know this is an old thread, but was curious to know.... Are most of the people who moved to Alabama from Florida or were they originally from northern states???? I just haven't met a whole lot of people here who are actually from Florida... We've only been here since 2005 and I don't like it here... First year was fun until the next year(2006) reality set in... Everything is so expensive here!!!!! At least to me it is... Sorry but I am one of those that think the people & traffic here SUCKS!!!! As my husband would tell someone: What Florida is not the south and it's not part of the US, it is it's own country or should be ;
