First year was fun until the next year(2006) reality set in... Everything is so expensive here!!!!! At least to me it is... Sorry but I am one of those that think the people & traffic here SUCKS!!!! As my husband would tell someone: What Florida is not the south and it's not part of the US, it is it's own country or should be ;
Curious, where in Florida did you come from and where in Alabama did you live that you found everything to be so expensive. At the very least, housing is cheap on a national scale. Other things may not be amazing cheap here, but housing is a major part of the cost of living.

Sorry bluebeard I must have made my post unclear

I am originally from Indiana living in Florida.... so everything I was talking about, was about FL.

I have never lived in Alabama, just have drove through as in I10

want to go to Northern Alabama for vacation over the 4th of July with the hubby for our anniversary to check it out

My husband knows how much I don't like living in Florida, so looking for something that's still in the south, but with friendlier people

Ok. That post makes generally better sense now.
I have met a few people from Florida. Not a ton in my little circles, but they exist. I'm from Cali, but there are even fewer of us around. Not that there aren't any. There are a few from places like Michigan and Minnesota I've met.
If you're looking for cheaper housing I'm pretty sure you'll find it here. Although given the foreclosure issue there, who knows!
