Default summer camps

Can anyone recommend a summer camp for our daughter? She is 12 and we've lived here only about 5 months and it's been hard on her, I think a camp might help her get out of her "comfort zone" at home here and really get over her shyness I would like to not have it be any more than 2 hours from us and we are near Anniston.
Thanks for any input!

Alabama has very few summer camps, but there is one in the Mentone area...McDowell, or MacDowell, I think is the name. You will want to track it down and call right away as it is so late in the school year. So many Alabama schools are starting early in the summer so it may be hard to get in before the close. There are quite a few summer camps in western North Carolina and I think a few in Georgia. Most of the kids I knew growing up only went to church or Girl Scout summer camps. Girl Scouts will take girls who have not been scouts before. There are lots of other day-type camps, depending on your area - anything from sports camps to history camps. The Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville has its famous Space Camp, which is very good and attended by children all over the world. Good luck!

thank you so much! I did some research around our area, and alot of the programs at the museum etc. were for younger kids. I will definitely check out the Huntsville camp as well.
Appreciate the help.
