Default Moving to Tuscaloosa /Best Public School options...

We are relocating with our 7th grade child to Tuscaloosa in the near future. What are the best Middle/High Schools in the Tuscaloosa area? Northport....Cottonwood.....Vance....?????

I would appreciate the name of "family established neighborhoods" built after 2000 in the $200-$250 range that could work for my family long term in the Tuscaloosa area. Also, we have considered an apt. before buying a home however SCHOOLS are a huge factor in this consideration. I would like for our child to change schools as little as possible.

All comments and recomendations (positive or negative) are greatly appreciated.

What areas of Tuscaloosa would you avoid at ALL costs?

What schools public or private would you consider?

Thank you for your help.

Have you retrieved any data from Greatschools or the AL department of education? Greatschools can produce all the school scores within X miles of an address. You can pick an address in the middle of town, make the radius something like ten miles then copy and paste all the data into excel.

Stick with Northport.

Your best bet is the Northridge or Hillcrest school zone. Northridge in the in the city proper north of the river, Hillcrest in the unincorporated suburbs south of town.
